Less Sugar Pomegranate Jelly

What a sweet holiday treat!


  • 4 c pomegranate juice
  • 1 pk ‘sure jell no sugar or less sugar’ pectin (in the pink box)
  • 3 c Sugar


Take several pomegranates and remove the airls (fruit) from the husk and membranes. It is important to remove as much of the membrane as possible from the airls because it has a bitter taste. Run the airls through a juicer to remove the seeds from the juice.

Using “Sure Jell no sugar or less sugar” pectin in the pink box, combine the pectin with 1/4 cup of sugar and add it to 4 cups of pomegranate juice.

Stirring to dissolve the mixture, bring the solution to a boil.

Add 2 1/2  additional cups of sugar and bring this solution to a rolling boil for 1 minute.

Remove from the heat and bottle the jelly.

Steam Bath the jars of jelly with the lids and rings tightened for 5 minutes.  Remove from the heat and you should hear a pop as the lids concave and seal on the jars for longer term storage.
