No, Gilcrease Orchard is not open year round and is only open seasonally.
Spring: We open when crops are ready with no ticket required for picking. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays 7 AM-10 AM.
Summer: Open all Summer no ticket required for picking. Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Saturdays 7 AM-10 AM.
Fall: Fall Harvest is a special activity requiring tickets to enter. Fall Harvest begins mid-September closing October 31 for the season.
Winter: Only open for special activities like the Christmas Tree Sale, and Christmas Wagon Rides and Visit with Santa which require tickets.
Closing Time: Plan activities in mind of the closing time for day or activity. We ask that guests exit at our closing time so come early to enjoy your activities.
Generally, no ticket is required to enter to pick fruit and vegetables, except for special activities.
In Spring & Summer tickets are not required to pick produce but are required to attend Yoga, Sunflower Days, Easter Egg Hunt, etc.
Fall Harvest is a special activity starting mid-September through the end of October requiring tickets to enter the entire Orchard. Fall Harvest includes all of the orchard including picking fruit and vegetables, donuts, wagon rides, concessions, and picking pumpkins.
In Winter we are closed except for special activities which require tickets like Christmas Wagon Rides and Visit with Santa, educational workshops, and more. The Christmas Tree Sale does not require tickets.
Tickets are to be purchased online, no refunds, no rescheduling, and no onsite/walk in tickets are sold.
No. Due to food safety purposes, we do not allow pets.
We allow service animals.
From the ADA website: “Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities… Service animals are working animals, not pets. The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person’s disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.”

- Talk to our friendly staff at the entrance
- Read signs at the entrance and signs at end of rows. Only pick if signs indicate crop is ready. If a sign says it is not ready, do not pick.
- Each vegetable/fruit is different on ripeness, so please check with our staff and watch our harvest videos on YouTube.
- Come early in the mornings for the best selection as specialty items can sell quickly.
- Due to the nature of a you-pick Orchard small farm, items are seasonal and limited.
Gilcrease Orchard is not certified organic.
We try to use the least amount of pesticides as possible. Commercial and organic pesticides are rarely used, and plants are fertilized with commercial and organic fertilizers.

Parking at Gilcrease Orchard
Yes! We have several parking areas conveniently located off Whispering Sands Drive.
Our main lot is paved and includes a row of accessible parking spaces for guests who need them.
For everyone’s safety:
- Please park inside designated areas within the fenced lot.
- Do not park along the road, in front of neighboring driveways, or near mailboxes.
- Avoid loading or unloading near entrance/exit gates or crosswalks.
Pro Tip: Arrive early in the morning for the best parking spots. Use N Rainbow Blvd for easy access.
Help us keep the Orchard clean- Please use trash cans and avoid leaving litter in lots.

We have port-a-potties located throughout the main areas of the orchard, as well as 2 new baby changing stations! Please use our Map App or ask our staff where they are located.
Yes, but alcoholic beverages are not allowed.
We highly encourage you to bring your own water and stay hydrated!
If you want to bring in any other snacks, just be sure that you dispose of them properly in the nearest trash receptacles.
While the main roads of the property are paved, accessing pathways within the garden and/or fruit trees may pose a bit of difficulty as it is a combination of unlevel dirt and grass.
The picnic area is gravel, and many areas are mulched.
We do not provide wheelchairs, strollers, or golf cart ride services around the orchard.
The Orchard offers many different shaded areas
- Concessions are with picnic tables
- Registers
- Farm Stand with benches
- Veggie Garden with benches
- The natural shade of the fruit trees
- Some shaded areas require walking in direct sunlight, so plan accordingly.
- Umbrellas, cold water, sunscreen, and light-colored clothing all help to stay cool
Yes! We have wheelbarrows located near the entrance for guests to use for all of their produce needs! Please do not place children in wheelbarrows as they tip quickly and pose a safety hazard.
Please return wheelbarrows back to the front entrance. Thank you!
If you do not wish to wait for a wheelbarrow, you are welcome to bring your own wagon or cart.
Yes! We have a Chicken Coop and Tortoise Sanctuary on property. As well as some working bees, and burrow owls.
Please be cautious of the bee hives and adhere to caution signs and tape near this area.
Please look from afar as to not scare our animals and wildlife.
For Rescue: We do not rescue/take in animals. Gilcrease Orchard is not an animal rescue and cannot take animals including bees. We recommend that you contact the Nevada Department of Wildlife to find suitable rehabilitators and sanctuaries.
We’ve completed hiring for our Fall Harvest season and are no longer accepting applications at this time.
We typically begin our hiring process in August to prepare for the busy fall season. Outside of that, we hire only as needed throughout the year.
Applicants must be at least 16 years old to be considered for employment.
