Here are questions to answer to book your group online:

Staff Led Field trips are geared towards K-3rd grade & have 3 three rotations on a timed schedule : 

  1. Educational presentation on the orchard – 20 mins
  2. Presentations at our bees and chickens – 30 mins
  3. Wagon ride to pick seasonal fruits or vegetables. Fall – students pick pumpkins. Spring – students pick carrots (based on produce availability). – 30 mins. Produce is for Students. Adults do not get to take home pumpkins or carrots. 
    • Optional: If school brings lunch, can stay 30 more mins in Picnic Area.

  • Private/Charter Schools only at 9AM & CCSD Schools only at 10AM
  • Space is limited! 
    • Booking does not promise exclusivity. If space, we will book another group/school at same time. 
    • Limit chaperones/parents so more students can enjoy the field trip. 1 adult : 10 students or per school/CCSD guidelines.
    • When booking include ALL students, teachers, & parents/chaperones (Parents/chaperones need to reimburse the school). Parents/chaperones not included in original booking may not be permitted. 
  • Waitlist does not roll over to the next season. Spring bookings open in January and Fall bookings in early August.

  • Payment IN FULL by CREDIT/DEBIT CARD required at the time of booking. ONLY CCSD schools will be permitted to use check. 
  • Students are $6.50 each and parents/chaperones are $6.50 each. Staff teachers are free
  • Fees help pay for seeds, fertilizer, and labor to grow the carrots or pumpkins. It also helps pay for the diesel for the wagon rides, staff time for our terrific presenters, and credit card/ticketing processing fees. 

  • A glass of apple cider for an additional fee of $1 per person poured in Picnic Area (may not be available).
  • Booking does not promise exclusivity. If space, we will book another group/school at same time.

1 adult : 10 students due to space limitations* OR per school/CCSD guidelines

Gilcrease Orchard must know of ALL parents/chaperones coming at time of booking. Chaperones will need to reimburse the school.

*Unless special circumstances (Special Education) and planned with Gilcrease Orchard Program Manager, we cannot allow more Parents/Chaperones as we need as many students possible to experience the field trip and wagon ride. We may be fully booked with limited space.

  • Porta potties are the only restrooms available.
  • Parking is free on the street for the busses and in the lot across the street for cars.
  • Field trips are 1.5 hours long and if you like you can bring sack lunches and stay an extra 30 min.
  • Some areas are paved, most are gravel/wood chips and unlevel ground. 

Each student should bring:

  • A cold water bottle as the field trip is outside with little shade.
  • Closed toed shoes, hats, sunscreen, and dress for the weather.
  • Lunch or snacks if school plans to stay for lunch.

Students get a 1.5 hours outside experience at a real Orchard, seeing real bees, chickens, a fun wagon ride, and harvesting carrots in Spring or pumpkins in Fall. A Real Farm Experience!

We ask ALL adults to help students pick produce (carrots or pumpkins) and leave produce for the students.

A limited concession stand will be available after trip. Not all items may be available. 

Field trips are on a tight schedule and students will need to move to different areas in a timeframe. 

If you have a special education group, please call our Education Program Manager at 702-409-0655 ext 3. We will make every effort to accommodate your group and modify the field trip if needed.

About 1.5 hours – 2 hours

  • If your program begins at 9am, the educational portion will be done at 10:30am. 
  • If your program begins at 10am, the educational portion will be done at 11:30am. 

If your group chooses to bring a sack lunch at the end of your tour, plan for an extra half hour. 

  • Bus Reimbursement Grants are available for CCSD busses up to $500 per field trip. We will not reimburse for charter/private busses.

    2. Email the invoice/bill from CCSD Transportation directly to [email protected] by May 31, 2025
    3. We will process payment and send a check in the mail 2-3 weeks after May 31, 2025

Elementary school groups. Kindergarten – 3rd grade. 

Groups between 50-140 students. Max 150 people including adults.

Minimum group size of 50 and a maximum group size of 150. 

Groups larger than 50 people get to book before (about 1 week before) groups  less than 50 people. 

The older the students, or more adults – the less people we can fit in a program.

For Special Education groups, we try to make every effort to accommodate your group and modify the field trip as needed.

A water bottle is strongly encouraged, as the kids may run through the maze, and during the warmer months, the kids get thirsty.
Closed toed shoes, hats, and sunscreen.

Fall – Bring foldable wagon for each class to place pumpkins in or cardboard boxes. It helps if they can fit in bus cargo or a chaperone brings a van/truck to transport pumpkins back to school. OR students can each hold their pumpkin on the bus. 

Yes ! If your group is smaller than 50 or does not fit our age group, we encourage unguided tours on the days that we are open for normal business operations. Entrance to the orchard is free (except for ticketed events like Fall Harvest), but wagon rides are not usually available.  You are welcome to use our picnic tables as first come first serve basis. 

During normal business hours we have our farm stand, concessions and you-pick seasonal produce. You may pick produce and pay by the pound.

No. We are not open on field trip days. We will have some items for purchase, but no items are guaranteed. We cannot guarantee the availability of any items. We will set up a small concession stand with a limited amount of items. Students can purchase items if they bring funds. 

Adults to not pick produce (pumpkins or carrots) during produce and need to help students pick.
